Smith & Wesson has been a storied American gunmaker since 1852 when Horace Smith and D.B. Wesson partnered in a quest to manufacture a firearm that could fire a fully self-contained cartridge.

Since that time the company has produced a number of firearms that are recognized worldwide. The Volcanic, introduced in 1854 was the first repeating American firearm that met the requirement of firing a fully self-contained cartridge.

Then in 1877 they introduced The .38 Safety Hammerless. The first double-action concealed-hammer revolver.

The introduction of the .38 S&W Special may be the most well know of them all. This model went on to become a standard for police and military and resulted in over 6 million units bring produced since the creation in 1899.

Let’s not forget the Model 29. Introduced in 1955 it became extremely popular due it’s use by none other than Clint Eastwood in the movie Dirty Harry.
