Newton Broom & Brush Co was founded on January 10th, 1914 in Newton, IL. It has been producing American Made brooms ever since! They still produce The Original Kitchenette which is made using 100% Broom corn. What is Broom corn? According to Britannica: broomcorn, (Sorghum bicolor), upright variety of sorghum of the family Poaceae, cultivated for its stiff stems. The seeds of broomcorn are borne on the ends of long straight branches. Zippo Lighters are the most quintessential lighters on the planet it would seem. Is there anyone that hasn’t seen one? Zippo began in the early 1930’s in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
