WV Great Barrel Company

The WV Great Barrel Company has one of the best stories we have seen. Born out of a desire to employ a community, this company, and the community it is in, were saved by tragedy.

In 2016 a massive storm caused flooding that devasted the small town of White Sulphur Springs, WV. A few civic leaders came together and engaged the community to help rebuild their town. However, rebuilding the town was not enough to save it and the people who lived there. The community needed employment. The town needed to produce.

As families began to settle into their new homes, folks involved in the recovery realized that they needed to do more. If they really wanted to really make a positive impact in this community, they needed to create good, safe jobs.

Thus, WV Great Barrel Company was born to employ locals and bring industry back to the town.

The 53 gallon barrels produced are used in the spirits industry around the world. They are made from locally sourced white oak by local workers.

The company goes out of its way to use as many local sources as possible. The wood is local, the loggers are local. They even installed a mill on site to process the wood themselves.

The Barrel Making Process is non-trival to say the least. Involving natural air drying, cnc stave jointing, advanced manufacturing, precision infrared toasting, charring and finishing.

Truly an example of a fine American company. They are employing American workers, using local sources and distributing worldwide.

USA Made barrels being used to produce fine spirits the world over.
