Gretsch
Who doesn’t love the sound of a great drummer playing a great kit?
You’ll find quite a few great drummers playing Gretsch American Made drums.
Greats such as Phil Collins, Cindy Blackman-Santana and the late Taylor Hawkins all get great sounds out of their Gretsch kits.
The company roots start in 1883 in Brooklyn, NY when Friedrich Gretsch, who emigrated from Germany, opened a small music shop making banjos, drums and tambourines.
By 1920 Gretsch was recognized as the largest musical instrument manufacturer in the United States.
The company remained family owned and run until 1967 when it was wold to Baldwin Music Company. At that time, great-grandson of founder Friedrich, Fred W. Gretsch vowed to eventually buy the company back. He did just that in 1985. At the same time the company establishes a drum manufacturing facility in Ridgeline, South Carolina.
Gretsch produces some beautiful kits such as the 140th Anniversary kits and the USA Custom kits.
No matter how you like to play, Gretsch has an option for you.
And, when you are playing your new kit, what better throne to use than one Made in America, such as one from Orthopedic Drum Thrones who we featured a few weeks ago!
